Poe Pinson

2019 was a very busy year for Poe Pinson as a skateboarder. On the heels of her success at Exposure Skate from the years 2015-2018 in Encinitas California, she was invited to skate in Dew Tour, which was held in Long Beach California from June 10-16 2019. She finished 25th overall as an Alternate in the Semifinals of Women's Street Division.

Following her success at Dew Tour, she was invited to X Games Minneapolis Minnesota from July 30 through August 4 2019. She finished 5th in Women's Street Division at X Games.

On February 17, 2020, she registered as a potential athlete for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. A formality at this point. When Poe was interviewed by Oh-So Magazine (Issue 4, 2020) for her thoughts on the Olympics, "...it's never been my goal to go. I didn't start skateboarding to go to the Olympics." Poe’s philosophy is all about skating, not winning.

Poe‘s Journey

Her journey to these professional venues began as a 4yo in Fernandina Beach Florida. Poe's 4th year birthday "present" was to visit the Fernandina Skatepark, her first time in a skatepark.

At age 6, she entered her first skate contest sponsored by local Fernandina companies. The photo below shows her in a tuck-knee position as she flies off a ramp approximately 6-7 feet in the air (November 2014)

Poe traveled to Encinitas California in 2015 for Exposure Skate, a venue for female skateboarding, the biggest female competition event in the world. She won 1st Place in Street Division in her age group. Her award was a ticket to Woodward West in Tehachapi California, a dream-come-true for a girl 10 years in age.

She also competed in the Rocky Mountain Rampage Skate Event held in Colorado Springs in 2017. In November 2017 at Exposure Skate, she elected to skate in the Pro Street Division, and she placed in the top twenty. She finished 2nd Place in Pro Women's Street Division the following year at Exposure in 2018.

She still competes in skating events and is sponsored by local and continental companies. She interacts with other professional athletes on this world stage in confidence and assurance and modesty.

She is a very scholarly young lady and loves challenges. She enjoys surfing and skimboarding and swimming and snowboarding too. Occasionally, she plays tennis with her dad at Central Park on the Island's city courts.
